BioDesign Challenge
Spring '22
Collab with Summer Strom https://summerstrom.wixsite.com/portfolio
A partner project created for the BioDesign Challenge focuses on giving bats a roosting spot. There are multiple ideas behind this concept:
1) to help combat the negativity of bats due to illnesses like the "white-nose syndrome"
2) create a ventilated habitat structure that supports the bats and rooftop garden life ecosystem
3) natural and sustainable base structure and design that is meant to degrade over time with the use of the bio-mixture we created
Materials:
- wood scrap leftovers collected and then cut for prototype
- twigs, grass, moss
- bio-mixture glue
- bio-mixture
Bio-mixture used on the outside and inside of structure:
- 2 tbsp Cornstarch
- 2 tsp White Vinegar
- 4 tbsp Distilled Water
- 2 tsp Vegetable Glycerin
Bio-mixture glue/bowl:
- 42 grams Pine Gum Rosin
- 3 caps filled 99% Isopropyl Alcohol
- 14 (28 for glue) grams Carnauba Wax
